Essential Time Management Tips For Online Learners

Time management is an essential part of all of our lives. Most of us have very tight schedules that we need to follow in order to get all the work we want to get done, done. Many students who come to ask us to take my class online for me also ask for time management tips. There are many students who have a lot going on in their lives other than the online class they have. Most of them have part time jobs that have long hours in addition to the online classes and course work given out by teachers. In such cases it becomes very hard to manage time, it just flies by. You might sit down to do one thing and before you know it, the whole day has gone by and your work is still not complete. To help out students studying online we have asked our experts to help us out. They have joined heads and have come with a list of tips that can prove to be very helpful in managing time.

Tip #1 Make A Time Table

The first and foremost thing you must do to save time is to design a time table. A time table will help you gauge who much time you actually have and how much you can spare for different activities. You can make the timetable on your own or you can even print one that is available online. There are many templates available online which you can alter to fit your preference. Another option that you can find is readymade time tables or as most people call, planners, they are available in different shops. These planners have dedicated columns for different activities and are aesthetically pleasing.

Tip #2 Switch Off Phone

The biggest reason why we cannot get any work done is because of distractions. The biggest distraction is of our mobile phones. There are many mobile applications that we have downloaded on our phones including social media apps. The social media world does not sleep and you constantly receive notifications of different things, maybe a friend has tagged you in a post or has commented under your picture. Once you pick up your phone to see the reason behind the notification you may end up spending hours on end scrolling through the social media app. This is why it is important for you to stay away from all distractions. While doing something important such as completing your assignments it is best to keep our phone aside or turn it to airplane mode. You can check all the notifications when you are done with the work at hand. Think of it as a reward for completing your work.

Tip #3 Take A Break

You are more likely to procrastinate if you spend long hours working. When you over exhaust yourself and work for long periods of time, you tend to believe that since you worked for a long period of time you deserve a long break. This long break is exactly what you don’t need. This is why our experts suggest you to schedule your work with frequent short breaks so that your mind stays fresh and you do not exhaust yourself. A human brain has a limited time that it can focus for after that time period most information learned is not retained and all the hard work ends in vain. To maximize productivity, you should include breaks in between your studying or working session.

Tip #4 Set Achievable Deadlines

When we sit out to plan out our work we tend to map out deadlines that at the time seem achievable but really aren’t. At that moment we are highly motivated which is why we believe we can achieve even the strictest of deadlines. However, over time we lose the motivation and end up missing out on a lot of deadlines. When we miss our deadlines it adds to our guilt and makes us stressed which is unnecessary. When making deadlines, always keep in mind that you might not be able to achieve some so make sure you are lenient with the deadlines you set.

Tip #5 Set Rewards Rewards

are a great way to motivate yourself to do almost anything. When you set out to do some task that is tedious and you generally are not too excited to do it then it is best to set a little reward for yourself that you will only get once you complete the work you planned. The rewards can be anything you like, it can be some snack, an hour of tv or you can even treat yourself with something you’ve been wanting to buy for yourself. Rewards will make sure you keep working towards your goal without straying away.

Tip #6 Avoid Procrastination

Procrastination is a hungry monster that will eat up all of your time. Procrastination is inevitable but as soon as you realize that you have been procrastinating get back to what you were working. Procrastination should be avoided at all costs.

Tip #7 Stay Home

Staying at home is one of the best ways to save time. When you go out to a friend’s house or to a party, you are wasting a lot of your time on things that you might not have the time for at all. Socializing is important but you can skip it if you have more important things that need your time. If a friend calls you over to their house, politely refuse and let them know how you are on a tight schedule so they don’t badger you to meet in the near future too. Sounds tough? It is only for your own good.

Tip #8 Prioritize

There are many things that need to be done, how would you know what you should do first? The answer is simple, make a list of everything that needs to be done. Start with the most important one and go towards the ones that are not as important. When you have your priorities straight, you are bound to get your most important work completed on time. Even if you run out of time, you won’t have to worry a lot as you will have all the important work done.

Tip #9 Pre-Plan

Planning ahead of time works wonders for saving time. You can plan everything and then follow that plan easily. For example, if you have continuous online classes and then a job to rush off to, you can plan your meals. Over the weekend you can decide what you will eat over the week. This will help you save a lot of time as you can also prepare your meals over the weekend. Similarly, there are many tasks which you can do in advance.

Tip #10 Get Help!

If going gets tough, feel no shame in asking for help. Asking for some aid is probably the best thing you can do to save time. Don’t just sit there worrying but make some good decisions. For any housework or other chores, you can ask your friends and family for help. If you want help with your online classes, you can even choose an online company and message them something along the lines of “Do My Class Online” This will help you ease up and live stress-free. Hopefully these tips will come in handy for you and you will be able to save some time!
